Laura Hawthorne…In the Garden
“From the first moment I heard Laura Hawthorne’s voice, I knew this was a voice that the world needed to hear. She is passionate about reaching out to people through her music and I am honored to be a part of that.”- Don Koch, 6-time Dove Award winning writer- producer (Phillips Craig & Dean, Avalon, 4Him)
In the Garden (2013), Laura Hawthorne’s highly anticipated new album, attempts to bring her listeners to a place of total surrender and intimacy with Jesus Christ. Co-written with Dove Award winning writer-producer Don Koch, this project is a true reflection of Laura’s heart and soul.
“The song, “In the Garden”, truly represents the intimate season I had with the Lord throughout the making of this album,” Laura shares. “I had no idea that our remake of this ever-popular hymn would become so dear to my heart. The music video beautifully portrays finding God’s peace in the midst of our everyday trials.” – (director/producer, Stephen Yake) filmed on location in Anna Maria Island, Florida. “My prayer for every listener is that this song takes them into their own personal garden with the Lord,” Laura says.
All of the songs have a common theme…intimacy. At its core, intimacy is about trust and letting go. Surrendering oneself – being vulnerable and transparent – exposing our strengths, weaknesses, fears, hopes and dreams. When we fail to surrender to someone or to the One Who is greater than ourselves, we are disconnected, because intimacy is about relationships and connecting. Jesus Christ longs to have that deep connection with all of us.
Laura faced several challenges during the making of this record. “In the middle of the most amazing project of my life, I was forced to step away for about a year and address a vocal cord injury – ultimately drawing me closer to the Lord,” Laura remembers. “There were numerous doctor visits, tests, more tests and finally surgery. It was a trying time, but I knew that God would ultimately see me through it.
I felt His presence every step of the way.” Through it all, she learned to trust God, believing that He would heal and restore her to health. He revealed this scripture to her repeatedly while she spent this season “alone in the garden”…“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
From Laura’s heart …
“I am grateful for my time spent alone in the garden for the silence enabled me to feel Him as He walked with me and hear Him as He talked with me – telling me I am His own. I was not just a singing voice, but His precious daughter. I believe that as the Lord has healed me in my brokenness, He is going to heal many others through my music and testimony. He loves us with a Father’s love and is more concerned about our relationship with Him than what we can do with the gifts He so freely gives us. It is imperative to remind ourselves on a daily basis that our relationship with the Lord is what matters most and that He longs for intimacy with each and every one of us.”

Laura Hawthorne….Bio & Ministry
Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Laura knew at the very young age of 5 that she wanted to become a professional recording artist. At 16 years of age she gave her heart to the Lord during a crusade in her hometown, but never became grounded in the Word and continued to seek her own path. Eventually, Laura moved to New York City to pursue a recording career. Her call to ministry came after her younger brother, Jay, became a ventilator dependent quadriplegic due to a tragic construction accident in 2000. While at her brother’s bedside in a nursing facility, Laura penned “Ease the Pain”, an emotional ballad about her love for Jay.
“God gave me that song in an instant,” Laura says, “because He knew how desperately we all needed hope.” As a National Anthem singer for the NY Mets, Laura had the opportunity to perform her brother’s song at Shea Stadium during the 1st Annual Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Day. Laura states,
“I was a pretty self-centered and driven artist until my brother’s tragedy. But the Lord opened my eyes and gave me a new desire to use my gifts to further His kingdom while sharing my brother’s story”.
Founder of Livin’ in His Love Inc., a world outreach music ministry, Laura began traveling the US in 2004 as a worship leader and speaker. Her previous album, He’s Been Faithful (2009), was released as Laura started traveling internationally, leading worship during mission trips in the Dominican Republic and Swaziland (Africa). In 2013, the Lord opened a door for her to minster at a benefit concert in Newtown, Connecticut, immediately following the Sandy Hook tragedy. Laura states, “We all must be ready to be the hands and feet of Jesus…whenever and wherever He calls”.
Her newest album, In the Garden (2013), co-written with Dove Award winning writer-producer Don Koch, was just released and her debut single, “Over Everything”, is now going for ads at Christian radio.
Laura serves as a worship leader at her home church, Changepoint Church in Poughkeepsie, NY. She currently resides in Dutchess County, NY with her new husband, Michael Pavlo (Married 12-14-13) and their infamous Chihuahua, Pinkie.
